Small businesses across Ghana are recording significant growth and job creation following their participation in MTN Ghana’s SME Accelerated Programme, with beneficiaries highlighting tangible improvements in operations and productivity.
Participants say the initiative, which combines funding, mentorship and digital support, is helping to reposition local enterprises into more competitive and sustainable ventures.
At the Kumasi session of the programme, several entrepreneurs shared how their businesses had evolved beyond initial expectations. A textile dealer reported expanding her operations and increasing her workforce after receiving financial backing and expert guidance, while a detergent manufacturer noted a sharp rise in production capacity and improved business management practices.
Beneficiaries emphasised that beyond financial assistance, the programme’s hands-on training and business clinics had been instrumental in addressing key challenges such as digital transformation, supply chain management and regulatory compliance.
Organisers say the programme goes a step further by tracking the progress of participating businesses to ensure long-term impact rather than offering one-time support.
With Small and Medium-sized Enterprises forming the backbone of Ghana’s economy but often constrained by limited access to credit and technology, stakeholders believe such targeted interventions are crucial in bridging the gap.
The SME Accelerated Programme, now in its third edition, is increasingly being seen as a catalyst for empowering entrepreneurs, boosting productivity and strengthening Ghana’s private sector in an evolving digital landscape.
