Forty pupils from Republic Road Junior High School in Tema Community Four have gained practical digital skills aimed at preparing them for the evolving technology-driven world.
The training, organised by Cermes Foundation Ghana, formed part of a month-long ICT boot camp designed to build foundational competencies in digital creation and problem-solving.
Delivered in four structured phases, the programme emphasised hands-on learning and teamwork to ensure participants developed both technical knowledge and practical experience.
The final phase of the training focused on spreadsheet applications and introductory robotics, equipping pupils with essential skills in tools such as Microsoft Excel, as well as basic concepts in design and automation.
Facilitator Austin Awotwe guided participants through practical exercises, including understanding spreadsheet functions and exploring simple robotics creation processes.
Organisers said the phased approach allowed for continuous reinforcement of concepts, with pupils engaging in group activities, exercises, and interactive sessions throughout the programme.
Administrator of the foundation, Ernestina Antwi-Boasiako, commended the pupils for their dedication and encouraged them to continue developing their skills using online learning resources provided by the organisation.
The initiative also received support from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, with ICT Coordinator Mark Anibrika monitoring the programme and praising the students’ progress.
To enhance learning, participants were provided with laptops and other resources to facilitate practical training.
The foundation plans to expand the programme in May, extending the opportunity to more pupils as part of efforts to promote digital literacy and prepare young learners for future careers in technology.
