Former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has pushed back against what she sees as efforts to sideline her within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserting that she will not be forced out or silenced.
Addressing recent internal party tensions, Adwoa Safo responded to criticism, particularly from NPP General Secretary, emphasizing that no one has ownership over the party.
“Nobody brought me into this party, and the party does not belong to anyone. We are all here to build it together, so no one can push me out or tell me to keep quiet,” she declared.
She accused the General Secretary of succumbing to external pressures, warning that failing to listen to party members could cost him politically.
“He should check social media and see how party members are criticizing him. He has an election coming up, and he shouldn’t allow himself to be manipulated. If your base is bitter and feels unheard, they will look for someone to speak for them,” she said.
Adwoa Safo lamented what she described as a deliberate smear campaign against her within the party, stating that attempts to damage her reputation will not go unchallenged.
“There has been an organized character assassination against me. My own party has defamed me,” she stated. “I owe it to myself to set the record straight.”
Reaffirming her commitment to free speech, Adwoa Safo insisted that no individual should be silenced for speaking their mind, especially on political matters.
“Freedom of expression is a constitutional right, and no one should be punished for exercising it,” she emphasized.
Her comments signal growing internal tensions within the NPP as key figures prepare for upcoming political contests, with Adwoa Safo making it clear that she intends to remain vocal and active in the party’s future.
