The Member of Parliament for Twifo Hemang–Lower Denkyira, Lawrence Agyinsam, has donated hundreds of school desks, sporting equipment and educational materials to support schools in the constituency.
The donation included 2,935 sporting items such as footballs, volleyballs, jerseys and first aid materials, as well as 560 school desks for schools in the district.
Presenting the items to the Twifo Hemang District Education Directorate, Mr Agyinsam said education remained one of the most important tools for youth development.
He commended teachers in the constituency for their commitment to improving learning outcomes and encouraged students to take their studies seriously.
Mr Agyinsam also stressed the need for parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to help create a better environment for effective teaching and learning.
The items were received by the District Education Director, Jucinta Nkansah, at Twifo Hemang.
After the presentation, the MP visited the Twifo Hemang Health Centre, where health officials raised concerns about the lack of a district hospital.
The District Health Director, Daniel Baah, said the district currently has four health centres but no district hospital, making it difficult for residents to access more advanced healthcare services.
He appealed for support from government and philanthropists to provide the district with medical equipment and improve healthcare delivery.
The visit highlighted the growing need for both educational and health investments in the district to improve living conditions and opportunities for residents.
