A new partnership between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and X1 will see the construction and refurbishment of 10 football pitches across the country as part of efforts to boost grassroots football development.
The five-year agreement, announced by the GFA, will also provide young players with playing kits, football boots and other equipment to support talent development at the community level.
Mr Richard Zhang, Head of X1 Global, said the company’s support would go beyond elite football and focus on strengthening the foundation of the game across the country.
He said football in Ghana represented more than just sport, describing it as a source of pride, emotion and national identity.
According to him, X1 would support the Black Stars and other national teams while also investing in the future of the sport through grassroots programmes.
The partnership names X1 as the official high-performance partner of the Black Stars and extends support to other national teams as well as the Division One League Super Cup.
Mr Zhang also announced that Black Stars players Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu had been selected as brand ambassadors for the initiative.
GFA President Mr Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku described the agreement as a major step in the association’s efforts to improve football development and national team performance.
He said recent successes, including the strong performance of Ghana’s U-15 girls team at a championship in Zimbabwe, showed that the GFA’s long-term focus on youth development was beginning to produce results.
Mr Simeon-Okraku noted that the partnership came at an important time as Ghana intensified preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
He added that the agreement would also strengthen domestic football by supporting clubs, players and communities involved in the Division One League Super Cup.
Mr Simeon-Okraku thanked stakeholders who had continued to invest in football development and said Ghana’s football future remained bright.
