The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana in the Keta Municipal Assembly has renewed its leadership following a peaceful and closely contested local union election.
The polls, held at the Assembly Hall, saw incumbent Chairman Jones Nketiah secure a decisive victory to maintain his position, while Ekow Triumph emerged as the new Organising Secretary after defeating his contender in a competitive race.
Out of 107 staff who participated, Mr Nketiah garnered a strong majority, reinforcing confidence in his leadership, while Mr Triumph edged past his opponent to claim his role, reflecting a vibrant democratic process within the union.
The newly elected executives were sworn into office immediately after the declaration of results, with officials urging them to prioritise unity, effective representation, and staff welfare in their new term.
Speaking after the exercise, Godwin Tettey commended members for the orderly conduct of the election, describing it as a sign of cohesion among staff and a boost for institutional stability.
Also present, Ernest Sakyi encouraged the new leadership to exceed expectations, particularly in advocating for improved working conditions and enhancing collaboration between staff and management.
Members who participated in the exercise expressed satisfaction with the transparency and calm atmosphere, noting that the process reflected growing confidence in the union’s internal democratic structures.
In their acceptance remarks, the elected leaders pledged to work collectively with members to strengthen the association and advance the interests of staff within the Assembly.
