The race for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title is entering a tense final phase as leaders Medeama SC prepare for a difficult mid-week away fixture against Berekum Chelsea FC.
With the league campaign approaching its decisive conclusion, Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko has acknowledged the growing pressure on his side as they push to secure the championship.
Medeama strengthened their position at the top of the table following a key 2–0 victory over closest challengers Bibiani Gold Stars FC at the TnA Stadium last weekend. The result extended their lead to five points, with 56 points, while Gold Stars remain on 51 points heading into matchday 30.
Despite the advantage, Tanko insists the title race is far from over, stressing that the final four matches will demand maximum focus and mental strength.
“The four remaining matches won’t be easy. We are going to prepare very well. We want to win the league, and so definitely we need to keep fighting,” he said ahead of Wednesday’s clash.
He added that pressure will be felt by all teams at both ends of the table, noting that clubs battling relegation make the final fixtures even more unpredictable.
“The pressure is always there, not only for the title, but also for those fighting relegation. So we all have to deal with pressure. I think the last four games are going to be a mind game,” Tanko explained.
He further emphasised the need for resilience as Medeama aim to maintain their momentum in the closing stages of the season.
“We have to be strong, and I think this is what we are going to do,” he said.
The crucial fixture between Berekum Chelsea and Medeama SC is scheduled for Wednesday at 15:00 GMT, with the league title race and survival battles both intensifying across the country.
