The Anloga District Assembly has officially handed over the site for the construction of a new 24-hour economy market project, clearing the way for work to begin on what officials describe as a major economic boost for the district.
The ceremony took place at the Anloga Market lorry station, where local authorities formally transferred the project site to consultants and contractors ahead of the start of construction.
The project will be executed by Zons-Top Construction Limited, with PPMC serving as the consulting firm under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
According to project officials, construction is expected to begin within the next 14 days.
The event drew key stakeholders, including Richard Sefe, Sandra Kpedor, assembly members, executives of the National Democratic Congress, market leaders and residents.
Addressing attendees, Sandra Kpedor urged contractors to ensure quality work and complete the project within the agreed timeline.
“We expect the contractors and supervisors to comply with all policy directives and ensure that the project is completed effectively and within the stipulated timeframe,” she said.
Project Manager for Zons-Top Construction Limited, Golden Tettey, appealed to traders and residents to support the project and avoid spreading misinformation.
Once completed, the modern market complex near Anloga Market will include a clinic, shopping mall, gymnasium, preschool for nursing mothers, technology hub, lockable stores, warehouses, pharmacy, police post, cold storage facilities, meat shops, parking spaces and a dedicated area for the Women’s Development Bank.
Authorities say the project forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s flagship 24-hour economy agenda aimed at creating jobs, boosting productivity and expanding commercial activities through modern round-the-clock market centres.
The initiative is expected to transform trading activities in Anloga and surrounding communities once completed.
