The ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct at the National Signals Bureau (NSB) has taken a new turn as former Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, remain in custody at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) headquarters. Their continued detention has sparked legal and public debate about the case’s handling.
Adu-Boahene, who once oversaw the country’s intelligence and cybersecurity infrastructure, is facing accusations of misappropriating state funds. Allegations suggest that funds earmarked for critical cybersecurity projects were redirected into private accounts, with his wife reportedly implicated in the scheme.
Their lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, has raised concerns about the treatment of his clients, stressing the importance of due process. Speaking in an interview on Citi Prime News, he described Adu-Boahene as resolute in his belief that justice will ultimately prevail.
“He is still behind bars at EOCO headquarters, and I know he is determined to relax until justice will set him free,” Atta Akyea stated, highlighting his client’s confidence in the legal system.
The case has gripped public interest, with opinions divided over the allegations and the broader implications for accountability within government institutions. As investigations continue, questions remain about the evidence against the former NSB head and the potential legal ramifications. Meanwhile, Atta Akyea has vowed to ensure his clients receive a fair hearing, emphasizing the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
