Ex-NAFCO CEO, Wife Face Fresh 20-Count Charge Over Alleged GH¢60m Fraud Scheme

Former National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, have been hit with fresh criminal charges involving alleged theft, fraud and money laundering exceeding GH¢60 million.

New documents filed at the High Court in Accra by the Office of the Attorney General accuse the couple of orchestrating a long-running scheme that allegedly siphoned huge sums from the state-owned food security agency through questionable rent claims and suspicious procurement transactions.

The 20-count charge sheet, filed on May 15, 2026, includes allegations of stealing, defrauding by false pretences, abuse of public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, dishonestly receiving stolen funds and money laundering.

Prosecutors allege that Mr Aludiba fraudulently secured GH¢734,400 from NAFCO in 2017 by claiming the money was for rent payments covering a two-year period. The state argues that the claim was false and resulted in financial loss to the agency.

The more serious allegations centre on transactions involving a private company known as Sawtina Enterprise. According to prosecutors, between 2017 and 2025, the former CEO allegedly diverted about GH¢50.8 million from NAFCO under the guise of payments for food supplies.

Investigators further claim that more than GH¢3.34 million was paid to another company, Alqarni Enterprise — allegedly linked to his wife — for food supply deals prosecutors say never genuinely occurred.

Faiza Seidu Wuni is separately accused of falsely presenting her business as a legitimate supplier to NAFCO and allegedly receiving funds suspected to be proceeds of crime. She also faces money laundering charges under Ghana’s Anti-Money Laundering Act.

The fresh prosecution comes shortly after the couple was re-arrested by officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following their discharge in an earlier case.

Their lawyer, former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, has strongly criticised EOCO’s handling of the matter, accusing investigators of denying the accused persons access to legal counsel and subjecting them to what he described as “pre-trial harassment.”

The high-profile case has intensified public scrutiny over financial management and procurement practices at NAFCO, an institution established to safeguard Ghana’s food security system.

The matter is expected to return to court in the coming days as prosecutors formally pursue the new charges.
