Seth Ameyaw Danquah, Chief Executive Officer of Despite Travels, has received international recognition for his contribution to tourism journalism at the 29th East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition in Istanbul.
Mr Danquah, who also works as a stringer with the Ghana News Agency, was recognised by Tourism Today News as a lead tourism journalist for its Africa tourism column.
The recognition positions him to publish tourism stories and destination features from across Africa, with a focus on promoting the continent’s tourism potential to a wider global audience.
Speaking after the recognition, Mr Danquah described the honour as timely, especially as Ghana intensifies efforts to market its tourism sector to the Eurasian market.
According to him, the broader mission is to position Africa, particularly Ghana, as a leading destination for eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and adventure travel.
He highlighted some of Ghana’s major tourist attractions, including Nzulezu, Busua Beach, Kakum National Park, Paga Crocodile Pond, and Wli Waterfalls, as well as the country’s historic slave castles.
This year’s EMITT exhibition attracted participants from 109 countries, with more than 552 exhibitors, 300 invited tour operators, and thousands of business meetings focused on global tourism development.
The next edition of the exhibition is scheduled to take place in Athens in 2027.
