Myres Manuel Odonkor Junior has been crowned champion of the Accra edition of the 1v1 Africa Football Challenge after an outstanding display of skill and composure at the AIS Astro Turf in East Legon.
The competition, which showcased individual football talent in a one-on-one format, attracted players from across Ghana and drew a large crowd of spectators eager to witness high-intensity duels and creative play.
Odonkor Junior stood out throughout the tournament, advancing through the rounds with impressive performances before sealing victory in the final to claim the GHS100,000 grand prize.
Opoku Elvis finished as runner-up and received GHS50,000, while Chris Mensah placed third, earning GHS25,000. Senyo Martin was recognised as the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament and walked away with GHS30,000 for his performances.
Organisers said over GHS400,000 in total prize money was distributed during the event, which blended sport, entertainment and community engagement.
The tournament, supported by musician and entrepreneur Mr Eazi and powered by Mobike, also featured a special exhibition match between actor Sulley Sadik and Mr Eazi, which became one of the highlights of the day.
Mr Eazi praised the quality of talent on display, noting that the Accra edition reinforced the growing pool of football potential across Africa. He added that the initiative aims to provide a platform for young players to showcase their abilities on a bigger stage.
Following its debut in Lagos, Nigeria, the Accra event marks another step in the expansion of the 1v1 Africa Football Challenge, which organisers say is fast becoming a unique grassroots platform for discovering and promoting football talent across the continent.
