Motorbike owners and riders in Keta, Anloga, and nearby communities will have the opportunity to register their motorcycles and obtain valid riding licences through a special three-day outreach programme organised by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
The exercise, being undertaken in partnership with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Keta Municipal Assembly, is designed to improve access to DVLA services while promoting compliance with road safety regulations.
According to Keta NADMO Director, Wonder Setsofia Deynu, the initiative will run from July 8 to July 10 at the Keta PWD Yard, providing a one-stop centre for applicants to complete registration and licensing procedures.
He explained that the programme seeks to address the growing number of motorbike users operating without proper documentation by making the process more convenient and accessible.
Mr Deynu noted that both commercial and private riders are expected to benefit from the exercise, which forms part of wider efforts to formalise motorcycle operations and enhance safety on the roads.
He urged prospective applicants to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain authentic riding licences, including the required Class “A” licence for motorbike operators, and ensure their vehicles are properly registered.
The NADMO Director said proper licensing and registration contribute significantly to reducing road traffic accidents and improving emergency response efforts, particularly in communities where motorcycles serve as a major means of transportation.
Organisers anticipate a strong turnout and have encouraged all motorbike owners within the catchment area to participate in the exercise to avoid future compliance challenges.
For assistance and further information, residents have been advised to contact the designated support lines for Keta and Anloga during the registration period.
The initiative is expected to strengthen road safety awareness while expanding access to essential public services across the municipality.
