The Nkwanta North District Assembly has commissioned a newly constructed three-unit classroom block for Ubunja Junior High School, aimed at expanding access to education and improving teaching conditions in the district.
The project, executed with funding from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), was officially commissioned by District Chief Executive Mr Kudjoe Isaiah Dordoe on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North, Mr John Oti Bless.
The facility includes three classrooms, an office, a store, and supporting infrastructure designed to enhance effective academic delivery. The commissioning event brought together traditional leaders, education officials, teachers, pupils, and residents of the Ubunja community.
Mr Dordoe described the project as part of government’s broader effort to strengthen educational infrastructure and improve learning outcomes across the district. He urged the community to take responsibility for maintaining the facility to ensure its long-term use.
Officials also commended the contractor, Detag Ltd, for delivering the project to specification and within schedule, while community members expressed appreciation for what they described as a significant improvement to local education.
The District Director of Education for Nkwanta North, Mr Dickson Bansah, said the new block would help reduce congestion in existing classrooms and create a more conducive environment for both teachers and learners. He expressed confidence that the facility would contribute to improved academic performance and school participation.
Stakeholders jointly called for proper maintenance of the infrastructure to ensure it continues to serve future generations.
