The charges against Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a key suspect in the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, have been amended to include abetment to commit murder. This significant development was revealed during a court hearing on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Koranteng, who has been in custody since his arrest, was initially charged with murder following the tragic killing of Ahmed Suale in January 2019. However, the prosecution revised the charges to reflect allegations of his involvement in aiding and abetting the crime.
According to the prosecution, Koranteng had publicly shared images of Suale prior to his death and was reportedly present at the crime scene when the journalist was murdered. The decision to amend the charges underscores the seriousness of the case, with authorities focusing on his potential role in facilitating the crime.
Following the update in the charges, the court has remanded Koranteng into custody once again, and the case is scheduled for a hearing on April 17, 2025.
The murder of Ahmed Suale, a key figure in Ghana’s investigative journalism community, has remained a point of intense public and legal scrutiny, with calls for justice continuing to grow.
