Former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has dismissed reports linking his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to an alleged GH¢55 million investigation, insisting no such matter was ever discussed with him during his time in custody.
In a statement issued on Facebook after his release, Mr. Aboagye described claims that his detention was connected to a GH¢55 million case as false and misleading.
«”For the record, there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!” he stated.»
He further accused some individuals of promoting what he called a false narrative surrounding his arrest, expressing confidence that the truth would eventually emerge.
«”A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail,” he wrote.»
Mr. Aboagye, who recently declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was arrested and detained by EOCO for four days before regaining his freedom.
Despite the ordeal, he said the experience had only strengthened his resolve to pursue the party position, insisting that attempts to intimidate or discourage him had failed.
«”I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots!” he said.»
The NPP communications director hopeful also thanked party members and supporters who publicly called for his release, revealing that news of their demonstrations and messages of solidarity reached him while he was in detention.
According to him, the support he received represented more than personal encouragement, describing it as a collective stand against political intimidation and efforts to silence opposing voices.
Mr. Aboagye maintained that his detention would not derail his campaign, stressing that he remains determined to lead the NPP’s Communications Directorate.
«”If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that,” he declared.»
He concluded by thanking his legal team, the leadership of the NPP and supporters for standing by him throughout the period, saying the experience had only strengthened his commitment to his political ambition.
«”This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours. We move. Stronger. Louder. Together.”»
