Police in the Volta Region have launched investigations into the death of a woman identified only as Enyonam, whose body was discovered in the backyard of her residence at Have Etoe in the Afadzato South District.
The discovery was made on Sunday afternoon, prompting residents to alert local authorities and the police.
Madam Peace Ayisem, Assembly Member for the Have Etoe Electoral Area, said she received a distress call from residents at about 1500 hours informing her of the incident.
She said the community’s traditional authorities were subsequently notified before the police were called to the scene to take over the matter.
According to her, the body has since been conveyed by the police, while the family of the deceased has been informed of the death.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear as investigators work to establish what led to the incident.
The Police have commenced investigations, including efforts to determine the events preceding the discovery of the body and the cause of death.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as the investigation progresses.
