Atta Akyea dismisses reports he has abandoned Adu-Boahene, vows to fight NSB case

Lawyer for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Samuel Atta Akyea, has dismissed reports that he has withdrawn from the ongoing criminal case, insisting that he remains firmly committed to defending his client.

Mr Atta Akyea, in a statement dated September 10, 2026, described social media reports about his alleged withdrawal as “wretched and vile propaganda”, saying the claims were connected to an ongoing dispute over a document tendered in evidence by the defence.

According to the former Member of Parliament, the document in question was admitted into evidence before Justice Francis Apangabuno Achibanga, sitting as an additional High Court judge, without any objection from the prosecution at the time.

He therefore rejected suggestions that the evidentiary dispute had prompted him to abandon Mr Adu-Boahene.

“I cannot abandon or disown my client,” Mr Atta Akyea stated, stressing that his legal team was instead preparing what he described as a “very solid and credible submission of no case.”

The lawyer maintained that the defence would continue to contest the prosecution’s allegations through the appropriate legal process and urged the public not to rely on social media commentary in determining the merits of the case.

He argued that the courtroom, rather than the media, was the proper forum for resolving questions relating to evidence and the law.

“Kwabena Adu-Boahene’s case was launched on the platform of media trial, where lies sell. The court is the forum where evidence and law should settle vexed matters,” he said.

Mr Adu-Boahene, Angela Adjei Boateng and Advantage Solutions Ltd. are facing prosecution in the case, with the defence continuing to challenge the allegations brought against them.

Mr Atta Akyea expressed confidence in the defence’s impending submission of no case and characterised the allegations against his clients as “sordid.”
