Flagbearer and Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has congratulated the party’s newly elected national executives following their election at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, 2026, Dr. Bawumia described the election as a significant milestone in the reorganisation of the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The election, which was conducted in an atmosphere the statement described as peaceful and transparent, marked the completion of the NPP’s reorganisation process from the grassroots to the national level.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the outcome of the election reflects the wishes of delegates of the party and provides a fresh mandate for the newly elected leadership to steer the NPP into the next phase of its political activities.
He noted that the rank and file of the party expected the John Boadu-led National Executive Committee to immediately begin preparations for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr. Bawumia further pledged his support to the new leadership, saying he would work with them to build an inclusive system capable of harnessing the talents and strengths of members across the party.
He stressed that every talent within the NPP would be important to the party’s campaign and electoral efforts in 2028.
“In victory or in defeat, no talent should be left out in the 2028 campaign,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
The NPP’s national executive elections bring to a close the party’s internal reorganisation exercise, which preceded the 2028 electoral campaign.
Dr. Bawumia said the focus must now shift towards strengthening unity, inclusiveness and preparedness as the party positions itself for the next general election.
