Bolt Food’s Kumasi business has more than doubled as growth continues into its second year

More than 100% year-on-year growth points to sustained demand for food delivery in the Ashanti Region

Nearly two years after expanding to Kumasi, Bolt Food saw strong growth in the city, with activity increasing by more than 100% year-on-year in its second year of operations.

The continued growth points to sustained adoption of app-based delivery beyond Accra and the growing role of Kumasi as an important market for Bolt Food in Ghana.

Since entering Kumasi, Bolt Food has continued to connect customers with local restaurants through its platform, giving local restaurants and other food merchants an additional channel to reach customers beyond physical footfall.

Ali Zaryab, Bolt Food’s General Manager said Kumasi’s performance demonstrates why expanding beyond the capital was an important part of Bolt Food’s growth strategy in Ghana.

“When we expanded Bolt Food to Kumasi, we saw an opportunity to serve one of Ghana’s largest and most commercially active cities. Nearly two years later, the fact that the business is still growing at more than 100% year-on-year shows that the demand was not simply an initial launch effect. Customers are continuing to adopt delivery as part of how they access restaurants and increasingly other everyday products across the city.”

The growth also reflects a broader evolution in how customers are using delivery platforms. While restaurant meals remain an important part of the delivery experience, the sustained growth suggests that delivery is becoming an familiar option for customers seeking convenience.

“What is particularly encouraging about Kumasi is not just the growth, but the breadth of demand we’re beginning to see,” Zaryab added. “Food delivery may have been the starting point, but customers are increasingly looking for convenience across different parts of their day. That creates an opportunity for restaurants to reach customers in new ways.”

Bolt Food said it will continue working with local merchants and couriers as it strengthens its operations in Kumasi and responds to changing customer demand.

The performance comes as Bolt Food continues to grow its delivery offering in Ghana, connecting customers with restaurants and retailers through its app.
