In a bold Easter message that confronted rising skepticism and misinformation about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Reverend Reuben Lamptey Gaskin, Minister in Charge of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Resurrection Congregation, issued a firm call for believers to stand unwavering in their faith.
Delivering his sermon on the theme “Christ’s Victory Over Death,” Rev. Gaskin took a strong stance against what he described as “falsehoods and propaganda” aimed at undermining the cornerstone of Christianity — the physical death and resurrection of Jesus.
“Never doubt the bodily resurrection of Jesus,” he said. “He died physically, rose physically, and ascended into heaven physically. These are not metaphors or spiritualized stories — they are facts rooted in scripture and eyewitness testimony.”
Rev. Gaskin addressed what he called a growing wave of narratives attempting to reinterpret or discredit the biblical resurrection account. He reminded the congregation that the resurrection is not only a spiritual event but a historically grounded truth, corroborated by multiple post-resurrection appearances recorded in scripture.
“Jesus interacted with his disciples, dined with them, and even showed them the wounds from the cross,” he said. “A spirit doesn’t eat or bear scars. The evidence is overwhelming.”
He emphasized that the soldiers guarding Jesus’ tomb, the sealed stone, and the subsequent appearances all pointed to the physical reality of Christ’s victory over death — a foundational truth upon which Christian hope and salvation are built.
Beyond theological clarification, Rev. Gaskin used the platform to challenge the church to defend the truth of the Gospel and reject narratives that dilute or distort Christian doctrine.
“The resurrection is not just a holiday. It’s our hope, our foundation, our reason for living,” he declared. “Without it, our faith has no substance.”
He urged believers to be bold in their loyalty to Christ, not only through words but through dedicated service, steadfastness in trials, and unwavering commitment to the truth of scripture.
As Easter celebrations continued across the globe, Rev. Gaskin’s message served as a clarion call for clarity and conviction in a time when core Christian beliefs are increasingly questioned.
“Let no one confuse you. Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again — not as a spirit, but in bodily form,” he said. “This is the Gospel. This is our faith. This is our power.”
