Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has revealed plans to significantly expand the Kwahu Business Forum in the coming years, citing the event’s growing success and its potential to drive economic development in Ghana.
The announcement comes after this year’s forum, which focused on “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector,” and was attended by over 20 banks, providing crucial support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.
Mr. Debrah addressed journalists in Kwahu, explaining that the expansion will include additional sectors critical to business growth, following requests from organizations outside the financial sector. “We have received interest from the insurance sector, as well as pension fund managers, who are eager to participate in next year’s forum. The objective is to create a more comprehensive platform that addresses the diverse needs of the business community,” he said.
Next year, the Kwahu Business Forum will aim to host a much larger venue to accommodate the broader scope of participants, with the goal of amplifying the support for SMEs and encouraging more industry collaboration. “In the president’s vision, we will expand this event to reach five times its current scale, ensuring more diverse industries can participate and contribute,” Mr. Debrah added.
The Kwahu Business Forum, a key initiative in Ghana’s push to empower locally-owned businesses, will now look to involve not only banks and financial institutions but also insurance companies and pension fund managers, creating a unified ecosystem for business growth. This strategic expansion aligns with the government’s broader objective of strengthening Ghana’s export and manufacturing sectors through enhanced support for local businesses.
