Nollywood star Ekene Umenwa is using her platform to inspire fans by sharing how her steadfast Christian faith guided her through early challenges in the film industry.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ekene posted a video of herself dancing to the gospel song “No Turning Back” by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor — a moment she described as one of spiritual joy and victory. But beyond the dance, it was her testimony that resonated deeply with followers.
The actress recounted how, at the beginning of her Nollywood journey, she was pressured by insiders to compromise her Christian beliefs to succeed.
“They told me to drop Jesus and Mary to blend in,” she revealed. “I ran to my Father [God] instead.”
Rather than conforming, Ekene says she received divine encouragement to remain focused and trust that others would eventually come to embrace faith as well.
“Jesus told me, ‘Move, and they will join us. Just don’t look back,’” she wrote. “Today, many now speak boldly about Jesus and Mary.”
Ekene credited her rise in Nollywood to her decision to stay rooted in her convictions. Her post reflected a deep sense of gratitude for how her faith has shaped her life and career, making her a source of inspiration for others navigating similar paths.
“I’m living proof that God never fails his own,” she added, noting that her joy was so loud it startled her parents.
Her testimony is being celebrated by fans as a reminder that it’s possible to stay true to one’s beliefs and still achieve success.
