The Accra Golden Lions Club and the Accra Labone Leo Club of Lions International, District 418 have launched a heartwarming initiative to combat hunger and support the well-being of underprivileged children in Accra. The outreach event, “Everybody Go Chop Breakfast,” saw the clubs distribute nutritious meals to 200 street children across key locations in the city.
Starting from the Total Filling Station near the 37 Military Hospital and passing through Spanner Junction and the Accra Mall, the initiative aimed to reach vulnerable children, providing them with a nutritious start to their day.
In an interview, Mr. Sampson Wolanyo Deklu, President of the Accra Golden Lions Club, emphasized the importance of tackling hunger, one of the club’s primary focus areas. “This effort directly addresses hunger at the grassroots level, helping to provide a balanced meal for children who need it the most,” he said.
Mr. Deklu explained that the initiative was part of the Lions and Leo Clubs’ broader commitment to serve the community, which also includes raising awareness about childhood cancer, diabetes, and vision impairment.
The clubs’ outreach seeks to not only provide immediate relief but also foster a culture of empathy and social responsibility within the community. Mr. Deklu encouraged the public to join in the effort, urging everyone to contribute to creating a stronger and healthier community for all.
