The Adaklu Traditional Council has launched a new welfare initiative with the establishment of a five-member Welfare Committee tasked with improving social support services for vulnerable residents across the traditional area.
The committee, chaired by Togbe Dzegblade IV, Dufia of Adaklu Kodzobi, has been mandated to identify and address the welfare needs of the elderly, persons with disabilities, widows, orphans and other disadvantaged groups.
According to a letter issued by the Council and signed by Mr. Foli Mawutor, Registrar of the Adaklu Traditional Council, the appointment was approved by Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, President of the Council and Paramount Chief of Adaklu, in recognition of Togbe Dzegblade’s record of compassionate service and commitment to community development.
The Council expressed confidence that his leadership would help strengthen welfare interventions and improve living conditions for residents, particularly those facing economic and social challenges.
The committee has been assigned responsibility for developing and overseeing welfare programmes on behalf of the Traditional Council, coordinating social support initiatives and responding to welfare petitions brought before the Council.
It will also engage with government agencies, non-governmental organisations and development partners to mobilise resources for community welfare projects, while maintaining records of welfare interventions and reporting regularly to the Traditional Council.
The letter said the Council looked forward to the committee’s contribution to advancing social welfare and community support within the Adaklu Traditional Area.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Togbe Dzegblade IV acknowledged the scale of the assignment but said he was confident that the committee would deliver meaningful results with the support of its members and the wider community.
He disclosed that additional individuals with relevant expertise would be co-opted onto the committee to strengthen its capacity and effectiveness.
Togbe Dzegblade also appealed to citizens of Adaklu to support the committee’s work, saying community participation would be essential to achieving its objectives of improving the welfare of vulnerable residents.
