A section of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) taskforce in the Ashanti Region has expressed frustration over unfulfilled job promises, demanding immediate placement in government positions as a reward for their role in securing the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the taskforce members gathered at the NDC’s regional office, calling on the government to honor commitments made to them during the election campaign.
Seidu Isshaku, the Ashanti Regional NDC Taskforce Coordinator, stated that the group was assured of job opportunities by President John Dramani Mahama in return for their dedication on election day.
“We were instructed not to leave the polling stations until victory was secured. We followed through with that directive, worked tirelessly, and ensured the NDC’s success. However, after all our sacrifices, we have been sidelined,” he lamented.
He further criticized the government for appointing individuals outside the party to strategic positions while party loyalists like them remain unemployed.
“People who were not actively involved in our struggle have been given top positions in various agencies, while those of us who committed our time and efforts have been forgotten. We are simply demanding what was promised to us,” Isshaku emphasized.
The growing discontent among grassroots supporters highlights the pressure on the Mahama-led administration to balance political appointments while managing expectations from party loyalists.
