Former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to Ghanaians to support ongoing emergency response efforts and comply with official safety directives as devastating floods continue to affect several parts of the country.
In a Facebook post on Monday, June 29, 2026, Dr Bawumia expressed sympathy to families who have lost loved ones, homes and property following the heavy rains that triggered widespread flooding.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods,” he wrote, extending his deepest condolences to bereaved families and those displaced by the disaster.
The former Vice President urged residents in affected communities to cooperate fully with government agencies and emergency responders working to rescue victims and provide relief.
“I urge citizens to comply with all directives issued by the Government and to cooperate fully with institutions mandated to address the situation,” he stated.
Dr Bawumia also called on emergency services and other relevant state institutions to intensify their operations to ensure timely assistance reaches vulnerable communities.
“I also urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them,” he added.
He stressed that national solidarity and compassion would be critical as the country responds to the humanitarian impact of the floods.
According to him, Ghanaians can overcome the current challenge by supporting one another and working together during the crisis.
“We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another,” he said.
Dr Bawumia concluded his message with a prayer for the nation, expressing hope that Ghana would emerge stronger from the disaster.
“May God bless our homeland Ghana,” he stated.
