Ghana’s search for a permanent head coach of the Black Stars could result in the appointment of an interim coach to oversee the team’s next two competitive fixtures.
A five-member committee established by the Sports Ministry and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to recommend an interim coach as part of its report on the replacement for former head coach Carlos Queiroz, who resigned last week.
The committee has been given until Friday, October 9, to submit its recommendations on the next substantive coach of the senior national team.
However, according to 3Sports, the committee is expected to propose a temporary arrangement to ensure the Black Stars have a coach in place for their upcoming assignments.
The interim coach would reportedly take charge of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia in November.
Both matches are scheduled to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium, giving the temporary coach an immediate opportunity to guide the team through the qualifiers.
The arrangement is expected to remain in place until the GFA and the Sports Ministry conclude the process of appointing a permanent successor to Queiroz.
The move would allow Ghana to maintain continuity in the dugout while the authorities take time to assess and select a long-term replacement for the Portuguese coach.
