Senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, has issued a stark warning about the party’s embattled ‘Thank You’ Tour, cautioning that what was meant to heal is now deepening rifts within the party.
In a strongly worded statement released on Sunday, 27 April, Agyarko lamented that the nationwide tour — initially launched to reconnect with grassroots supporters and rebuild the NPP’s image after its 2024 election defeat — has been hijacked by internal disputes and blame games.
“What was intended to restore our party’s shine and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead unraveling into bouts of discord, blame-shifting, and internal strife,” he said.
The former Energy Minister urged the party’s leadership to urgently halt and reassess the tour’s trajectory, warning that failure to do so could result in “serious collateral damage” to the NPP’s unity and long-term survival.
Agyarko emphasized the need for a recalibrated strategy rooted in genuine reconciliation and solidarity, calling on party faithful to seize the moment to “renew our collective resolve” and uphold the NPP’s proud legacy.
The ‘Thank You’ Tour, rolled out in the aftermath of the election loss, was intended to re-energize the party base. Instead, it has exposed festering tensions, with increasing dissatisfaction voiced by members over post-election handling and party direction.
As internal discontent grows louder, Agyarko’s intervention adds urgency to mounting calls for introspection and course correction within the NPP ranks.
