The Africa Armwrestling Championship may soon have its official venue confirmed as the Local Organising Committee (LOC) intensifies preparations ahead of the continental showdown scheduled for April 29 to May 3, 2026.
A high-powered delegation led by Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa, conducted a detailed inspection of the Borteyman Sports Complex to evaluate its readiness to host Africa’s premier armwrestling event.
The team assessed critical areas including the competition arena, athlete warm-up zones, seating arrangements and overall spectator experience to ensure the facility meets international championship standards. Officials from the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation were part of the inspection tour.
Speaking after the exercise, Mr. Asibey described the visit as a key step in determining the venue’s suitability for what he called “Africa’s fiercest armwrestling spectacle.” While expressing satisfaction with the facility’s condition, he noted that accommodation for participating teams remains a major logistical concern that will require further deliberation.
The final decision on the venue is expected after the committee reviews its findings and addresses outstanding logistical considerations. If approved, the Borteyman Sports Complex will serve as the battleground for top armwrestlers from across the continent in what promises to be a highly competitive championship.
