Brighton continued their impressive run of form with a hard-fought victory over Bournemouth at the Amex Stadium, securing their fourth consecutive win across all competitions.
The match saw plenty of attacking intent from both sides, but it was Brighton who took the lead when Joao Pedro converted a first-half penalty after being brought down by Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Seagulls nearly doubled their advantage before the break, but Kaoru Mitoma’s effort from a Tariq Lamptey cross struck the post.
Bournemouth responded strongly in the second half, leveling the score through Justin Kluivert. The winger collected a pass from Milos Kerkez, cut inside, and unleashed a stunning shot past Bart Verbruggen. The visitors nearly took the lead when Dango Ouattara forced a close-range save from Verbruggen, but Brighton held firm.
The decisive moment came late in the game when second-half substitute Danny Welbeck made an instant impact. Just three minutes after replacing Pedro, he latched onto Georginio Rutter’s through ball and coolly slotted past Arrizabalaga, sealing the victory for Brighton.
The win moves Brighton up to eighth place in the Premier League, level on points with seventh-placed Bournemouth, as both teams continue their push for European qualification.
