The Accra High Court has ordered the remand of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after finding that he failed to comply with a key condition attached to his bail.
The court ruled that Abronye DC did not fulfil a directive requiring him to deposit his passport with the court, a condition imposed when he was granted bail in a criminal case involving a charge of false publication.
As a result, the court revoked the bail arrangement and ordered that he be held in police custody pending further proceedings.
Abronye DC was not present in court when the ruling was delivered.
The politician is currently standing trial in a case initiated by the State over allegations of false publication. He had previously been remanded before securing bail from the High Court last month.
The surrender of his passport formed part of the conditions set by the court to guarantee his compliance with the judicial process.
However, the court determined that the requirement had not been met, prompting the decision to withdraw the bail privilege and order his remand.
The substantive case remains before the Circuit Court, where proceedings on the false publication charge are continuing.
The latest development marks a setback for the NPP regional chairman as the legal process moves forward.
