The Committee for Public Accountability (CPA) has raised serious concerns about the government’s recent takeover of the private jet terminal operated by McDan Aviation at the Accra International Airport, questioning whether proper legal procedures were followed.
The move came after Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) terminated its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) agreement with McDan Aviation, citing alleged disputes over unpaid licence fees, rent, and royalties.
Addressing the issue, CPA Executive Chairman Collins Owusu Amankwah called for transparency, urging the immediate publication of the contract between GACL and McDan Aviation. He questioned the involvement of national security operatives in what he described as a commercial tenancy dispute.
“These actions raise pressing questions about the treatment of private investors on government concessions. Was a court order obtained? Did McDan Aviation receive proper notice? What legal authority justified the forceful takeover?” Mr. Amankwah asked.
The CPA has demanded formal explanations from the Ministry of Transport and called for parliamentary oversight to ensure accountability and protect investor confidence.
The takeover has fueled public debate over government intervention in private sector operations, with calls for strict adherence to legal processes to maintain trust and promote administrative justice in Ghana.
