The 2026 Educational Fair was officially launched at Krobo Girls Senior High School to help final-year students make informed decisions about their academic and career futures. The initiative, coordinated by the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Education, brought together students from multiple second-cycle institutions, including Krobo Girls SHS, Manya Krobo SHS, Yilo Krobo SHS, Klo Agogo SHS, Akro Senior Technical School, and Asesewa SHS.
Representatives from tertiary institutions such as Koforidua Technical University, All Nations University, Presbyterian University College, and the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) engaged students on academic programmes, career paths, scholarships, and admission procedures.
Speaking on behalf of the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Francis Addo Akumatey, Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of making informed choices at this critical stage. “The WASSCE examination is not just an academic exercise but a defining moment that determines your opportunities in higher education. Choose programmes that align with your strengths, interests, and long-term goals,” he advised.
Mr. Akumatey stressed that education is a key driver of national transformation and highlighted government efforts to expand access, promote technical and vocational training, and align academic programmes with labor market needs.
Krobo Girls SHS Headmistress, Madam Bernice Noel Mensah Akutteh, welcomed the initiative, describing it as an opportunity for students to explore opportunities, interact with tertiary institutions, and gain clarity on career paths.
Final-year students expressed appreciation for the fair. Esther Tetteh of Krobo Girls SHS said the programme helped her understand university courses and career options, while Samuel Nartey of Manya Krobo SHS noted that it encouraged him to take his studies seriously and plan for life after senior high.
The fair underscores the Eastern Region’s commitment to equipping students with knowledge and guidance essential for academic success and meaningful career planning.
