What was expected to be the birth of triplets has turned into an unexpected challenge for a young family in the Twifo Atti-Mokwa District, after a fourth baby was delivered at the district government hospital.
Mr. Emmanuel Quansah, now a father of seven, says the arrival of quadruplets has placed enormous financial pressure on his household. According to him, earlier medical scans had indicated that his wife, Mrs. Naomi Quansah, was carrying three babies, making the birth of a fourth child both surprising and overwhelming.
The newborns are currently being cared for in incubators, while their mother recovers from a caesarean section. With specialised neonatal care required and post-surgery treatment ongoing, hospital expenses have risen significantly.
Mrs. Quansah told the Ghana News Agency that the family was already raising three children before the latest delivery, and the sudden expansion of their household has stretched their resources beyond capacity.
The couple is now appealing to philanthropists, non-governmental organisations, government agencies and benevolent individuals to support them in settling their medical bills and ensuring proper care for the babies.
They say timely assistance would not only ease their financial burden but also help secure a healthy start in life for the four newborns.
