The family of slain mobile money vendor Christopher Ahordo has announced plans to stage a peaceful picketing at the Ketu South Divisional Police Command, citing frustration over what they describe as a lack of progress and communication in the investigation into his murder.
The demonstration, scheduled for June 10 at Tokor in the Ketu South Municipality, is expected to draw relatives, sympathisers, and residents seeking answers regarding the handling of the high-profile case.
Ahordo was killed on April 28, 2025, near the Diamond Cement area in Aflao, an incident that generated widespread concern and calls for improved security within the municipality.
According to a statement issued by the family, concerns intensified after the alleged prime suspect, identified as Ali Taidu, reportedly escaped from lawful custody, while other suspects arrested in connection with the case were granted bail without prosecution.
The family said they have received little information from investigators regarding efforts to recapture the escaped suspect or the current status of the case.
They noted that during a press conference held on May 18, 2026, they gave the Ghana Police Service a two-week ultimatum to provide updates on the investigation. However, they claim the deadline passed without any official response.
The planned picketing, the family explained, is aimed at demanding justice for the deceased, seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s escape, and encouraging greater accountability in the investigation process.
The action will also draw attention to broader concerns about violent crime and public safety in Aflao and the wider Ketu South Municipality.
Despite their frustrations, the family stressed that the demonstration will be peaceful and lawful, with participants expected to carry placards calling for justice, transparency, and improved security.
They have appealed to the Ghana Police Service to provide security for the event and facilitate a smooth exercise.
The family maintains that the protest is intended to strengthen public confidence in the justice system and ensure that the circumstances surrounding Ahordo’s death are fully addressed.
