The Ghana Police Service has intensified its investigation into the robbery and murder of mobile money vendor Christopher Ahordor, with the recent arrest of a 65-year-old man believed to be the father of a key suspect.
Happy Sewordor was arrested in the early hours of May 18, 2025, marking a significant development in the case that has gripped the town of Aflao and beyond. His arrest raises further questions about the possible family links and organized networks behind the April 28 killing.
According to police sources, weapons including cap guns, a locally manufactured pistol, empty cartridges, and narcotics were seized from his home, allegedly traced back to a house owned by his son, Michael Sewornu—one of the prime suspects already in custody.
Police suspect that Happy Sewordor played a role in concealing weapons and aiding the alleged robbers, adding a new dimension to the investigation. He has been remanded in prison custody following a court appearance on May 21 and is expected back in court on June 16.
This development brings the number of suspects arrested to eight. In addition to the Sewordors, five other men—Hadi Sulley, Eric Dordzinu, Ewe Abraham (alias Wale), Korku Agboada, and Utsuku Onyeso—are also in custody. One more suspect, Atsu Agbagla, has been granted police enquiry bail.
The police say the arrests are a result of collaborative work between the Volta Regional Command and the CID’s Anti-Armed Robbery Unit in Accra, with support from the public.
Authorities say they are determined to uncover the full extent of the crime network and are urging residents to continue sharing credible information.
“This is a critical moment in the investigation, and every tip counts,” the Police said in a statement.
Investigations remain ongoing.
