Fidelity Bank Ghana has launched its third annual Sustainability Month, reinforcing its commitment to driving environmental stewardship and social inclusion through community engagement and innovative financing solutions.
Under the theme “Sustaining Our World: Collaborating for a Greener Future,” the month-long campaign—also known as Orange Goes Green—invites customers, partners, and the public to actively participate in creating a sustainable future that balances climate resilience with economic empowerment.
Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, highlighted the bank’s holistic approach, stating, “Sustainability is not just policy; it’s a purpose woven into our strategy. We’re asking how finance can serve everyone and how we can help communities adapt to climate risks.”
Throughout August, Fidelity Bank will spearhead grassroots activities such as community clean-ups in partnership with social advocacy group Buz Stop Boys, weekly Electric Vehicle rides promoting clean transport, and nationwide tree-planting efforts targeting environmental degradation.
Staff participation is encouraged through “Green Fridays,” where seedlings are distributed and nurtured across branches, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the bank and beyond.
Complementing these actions, the bank will host Climate Action Week to showcase green financing products like Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy Asset Finance—tools designed to enable individuals and businesses to adopt sustainable technologies.
Educational outreach forms a key pillar of the campaign, with weekly webinars addressing topics from waste management to climate innovation, and online sustainability quizzes engaging the wider public.
Beyond environmental goals, Fidelity Bank’s social impact initiatives take center stage. The Creative and Cultural Fund supports young Ghanaian creatives through grants and loans, while the Empower All initiative focuses on inclusion and empowerment for persons with disabilities.
The Sustainability Month will culminate in a flagship conference uniting policymakers, financiers, civil society, and business leaders to explore collaborative strategies for a greener and more inclusive Ghana.
Nana Yaa Afriyie Koree, Head of Partnerships, Sustainability and CSR, stressed the power of collective action: “Small, purposeful steps create meaningful impact. We invite everyone to join us on this journey toward systemic change.”
By embedding sustainability into its core operations, Fidelity Bank positions itself as a catalyst for transformative climate action and financial inclusion, inspiring communities and stakeholders across Ghana to rethink their role in building a sustainable future.
