Fidelity Bank Ghana has publicly distanced itself from an entity operating under the name “Fidelity Capital Investment Group,” warning customers and investors not to mistake the firm for any business linked to the bank.
In a statement, the bank said neither it nor its investment subsidiary, Fidelity Securities Limited, has any relationship with the entity or its operations.
The bank stressed that Fidelity Securities is a fully licensed and regulated investment and asset management company under the Securities and Exchange Commission Ghana and operates within all legal requirements.
According to Fidelity Bank, it became concerned following growing media reports and public discussions surrounding the activities of Fidelity Capital Investment Group.
The bank said the use of the “Fidelity” brand name could mislead the public into believing the company is affiliated with the bank.
It urged potential investors to verify the legitimacy of any investment firm directly with the Securities and Exchange Commission before committing funds.
Fidelity Bank Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, integrity and customer protection.
The clarification comes after the Securities and Exchange Commission Ghana warned the public against investing with Fidelity Capital Investment Group, which it says is not licensed to operate in Ghana’s capital market.
Deputy Director-General Mensah Thompson told Citi Business News that the company appears to be operating like a Ponzi scheme by promising unusually high returns through platforms such as Telegram.
He cautioned the public to avoid unregulated investment schemes, warning that such platforms often put investors’ funds at serious risk.
