Fidelity Bank Ghana has supported efforts to strengthen police training and operational preparedness with the renovation of a multipurpose auditorium at the Police Public Safety Training School (PPSTS) in Pwalugu in the Upper East Region.
The refurbished facility is expected to provide an improved environment for training programmes, conferences, strategic engagements and other institutional activities of the Police Service.
The project was handed over to the Police Service at a ceremony by Mr Harold Ansah, Head of Personal Banking at Fidelity Bank, on behalf of the bank.
Speaking on behalf of the Divisional Director of Retail Banking, Godfred Attafuah, Mr Ansah said the investment formed part of the bank’s corporate social investment initiatives aimed at supporting institutions that contribute to national development and public safety.
He said improving facilities at the training school would enhance the capacity of police personnel who are responsible for protecting lives and property.
“By investing in the spaces where our law enforcement professionals learn and strategise, we are reinforcing our commitment to national security and community well-being,” he said.
Mr Ansah stressed that the bank viewed its support as a long-term partnership rather than a one-off intervention.
“This is not a transaction. It is a partnership we intend to sustain,” he added.
Continued support for police training school
The latest intervention adds to a series of initiatives Fidelity Bank has undertaken to support the PPSTS over the years.
These include the construction of a mechanised borehole, upgrading of kitchen facilities and the provision of equipment such as cookers, gas cylinders, dining tables and benches.
Mr Ansah said the bank would continue to identify areas where its support could contribute to institutional development.
Receiving the facility, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Dr Wilson Aniagyei, expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police for its continued support.
He said the renovated auditorium would contribute to the training and development of police personnel as the Service worked to strengthen public safety.
ACP Dr Aniagyei said the Police Service valued its relationship with Fidelity Bank and expressed the institution’s commitment to deepening the partnership in the coming years.
Fidelity Bank described the project as an investment in the personnel of the Police Service and the wider public safety mission they serve.
