The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a special initiative to fast-track the replacement of Ghanaian passports lost or damaged during the recent floods that affected several parts of the country.
The intervention is aimed at easing the burden on flood victims who lost important travel documents as a result of the disaster.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry acknowledged the widespread devastation caused by the floods, including the loss of lives and destruction of property, and expressed its condolences to bereaved families and all those affected.
According to the Ministry, many Ghanaians have reported losing their passports or having them damaged in the floods, prompting the decision to introduce an expedited replacement process.
As part of the exercise, affected persons are required to contact a dedicated telephone number between July 3 and July 17, 2026, and provide their personal information to facilitate verification.
The Ministry assured the public that all verified applications under the initiative will be processed within one week, ensuring victims receive their replacement passports as quickly as possible.
