From Barefoot Beginnings to Diaspora Leadership: The Inspiring Journey of Andrews Kwame Perprem

In the small village of Agyapomaa in Ghana’s Eastern Region, where access to basic necessities was once a daily struggle, a young boy began a journey that would one day carry him across continents and into positions of leadership and influence. That boy is Andrews Kwame Perprem, now a development consultant, community leader, and a candidate for the Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Belgium Chapter.

Born 39 years ago in the Abuakwa South Constituency, Mr. Perprem’s early life was defined by hardship. Raised by his maternal great-grandmother under extremely difficult conditions, he learned the meaning of survival at a very young age.

Between the ages of five and twelve, he engaged in farming, foraged for wild kola nuts and mushrooms, and fished to feed himself.

He walked barefoot to school, often on an empty stomach, and lacked essential learning materials such as school bags, desks, and chairs.

Yet, even in these circumstances, his academic brilliance was unmistakable. Quiet and reserved, partly due to the stigma of poverty, he consistently ranked first in his class. For him, the classroom became a place of hope and purpose.

A turning point came shortly after his 12th birthday, following the passing of his great-grandmother. He moved to Accra to live with his father, a transition that came with its own challenges. Despite his academic ability, he was placed two classes behind his level. Undeterred, Mr. Perprem applied himself with remarkable discipline. Within months, he adapted, improved significantly in English and mathematics, and climbed back to the top ranks of his class.

His determination soon paid off. In a competitive entrance examination involving 118 pupils, he placed first, an achievement that allowed him to skip a class entirely. From that point forward, excellence became a consistent pattern.

He served as Senior Boys Prefect, he also went on to emerge as the overall best student in his school in the 2004 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and

At Adonten Secondary School in Aburi, his leadership qualities flourished further. He was elected both Senior Boys Prefect and President of the School Representative Council (SRC), roles in which he demonstrated discipline, responsibility, and the ability to inspire others.

Mr. Perprem’s pursuit of education continued with equal determination. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Business Studies, followed by an MPhil in Development Studies from the University for Development Studies. He later earned two additional master’s degrees in Belgium, one from the University of Antwerp and another from KU Leuven, marking a significant academic journey from rural Ghana to some of Europe’s most respected institutions.

His professional career reflects a strong commitment to development and knowledge sharing. He has served as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University for Development Studies and later as a Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba.

Over the years, he has built a reputation as a development consultant with more than 15 years of experience and has authored over 15 scientific publications.

Beyond academia, Mr. Perprem has demonstrated a passion for entrepreneurship and social impact. He is the founder of Drewperp Consult Limited, Drewperp Financial Services, and Save the Mining Communities–Ghana, initiatives that focus on job creation, financial empowerment, and sustainable development in vulnerable communities.

His leadership has also been felt strongly within the Ghanaian diaspora in Belgium. For over five years, he served as Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students–Belgium, working closely with the Ghana Embassy in Brussels and other stakeholders to advance the welfare of Ghanaian students. During this period, he organized numerous seminars, symposia, and leadership development programs aimed at empowering young people.

In the political space, Mr. Perprem has emerged as a strategic organizer and mobilizer. He is a founder of United Belgium for Bawumia (UBB), a movement focused on grassroots mobilization, resource coordination, and political engagement in support of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Currently serving as Acting Secretary of the NPP Antwerp Chapter, his contributions have been widely recognized within the party’s Belgium branch.

Observers note that his candidacy for the Secretary position of NPP Belgium is grounded not only in his experience but also in a life story that resonates with perseverance, discipline, and service.

From walking barefoot in Agyapomaa to engaging in leadership and development work in Europe, Andrews Kwame Perprem’s journey reflects a narrative of resilience and transformation, one that continues to inspire many within and beyond the Ghanaian community.

As the NPP Belgium Chapter prepares for its internal elections, his story stands as a reminder of how determination, when combined with opportunity and leadership, can shape not only an individual’s destiny but also the future of a community.

ANDREWS KWAME PERPREM
A Journey from Barefoot Beginnings to Proven Leadership

A CHILD OF STRUGGLE… BUT NOT DEFEAT
In the quiet village of Agyapomaa in Ghana’s Eastern Region, a young boy began life under circumstances many would never endure.
Andrews Kwame Perprem was not born into comfort. He was raised by his maternal great-grandmother—an elderly woman over a century old—who did her best under extremely harsh conditions.
From the tender age of five, life became a daily fight for survival.
While other children played, Andrews worked.
He farmed.
He searched the forests for wild kola nuts and mushrooms.
He fished in streams just to have something to eat.
Most days, he walked barefoot—long distances to school, on rough paths, under the scorching sun.
Many times, he sat in class hungry.
He had no school bag.
No desk.
No chair.
In a system where pupils brought their own furniture, Andrews sometimes sat on the bare floor—yet he never stopped learning.

THE QUIET GENIUS
Despite the hardship, something remarkable stood out.
Andrews was brilliant.
He consistently placed first in class.
He spoke little, often withdrawn because of poverty and bullying—but his mind spoke loudly through excellence.
His happiest moments were not at play…
They were in the classroom.
They were during exams.
Because education, for him, was not just learning—it was hope.

A TURNING POINT
Just after his 12th birthday, life dealt another blow—he lost his great-grandmother.
But in that loss came a turning point.
He moved to Accra to live with his father.
There, reality hit again.
Despite his brilliance, he was placed two classes behind, from Primary 5 back to Primary 3.
Many would have given up.
But Andrews did not.
With determination and discipline, he studied relentlessly—day and night, at school and with a private teacher.
Within just three months, he began speaking English fluently and competing academically.
Within four months, he ranked 10th out of 30 students—and was promoted.
Soon, he rose into the top three.
And then came a defining moment.
He sat for a competitive entrance exam.
Out of 118 pupils, Andrews came 1st.
He skipped an entire class.
From that moment, his path was clear—he was destined for greatness.

EXCELLENCE AND LEADERSHIP EMERGE
Andrews went on to become the overall best student in his school in the 2004 BECE.
But it wasn’t just about academics anymore.
Leadership had found its voice.
He was elected Senior Boys Prefect—a sign of trust, discipline, and character.
At Adonten Secondary School, Aburi, he rose even higher:
* Senior Boys Prefect
* President of the School Representative Council (SRC)
He was no longer just a student.
He was a leader among leaders.

A PURSUIT OF KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT LIMITS
From barefoot beginnings to global academic excellence, Andrews never stopped pushing forward.
He earned:
* A Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Business Studies
* MPhil in Development Studies – University for Development Studies
* MSc – University of Antwerp
* MSc – KU Leuven (Belgium)
Three Master’s degrees.
Across continents.
Against all odds.

A LIFE OF IMPACT AND SERVICE
Andrews did not pursue success for himself alone.
He chose service.
He served as:
* Teaching & Research Assistant – UDS
* Lecturer – University of Education, Winneba
He later founded:
* Drewperp Consult Limited
* Drewperp Financial Services
* Save the Mining Communities–Ghana
Through these, he has:
✔️ Created jobs
✔️ Empowered communities
✔️ Promoted sustainable development
✔️ Impacted vulnerable lives
With over 15 years of experience and 15+ scientific publications, Andrews is not just educated—he is impact-driven.

A LEADER IN THE DIASPORA
In Belgium, Andrews became a pillar of the Ghanaian community.
As Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students–Belgium for over 5 years, he:
* Worked with the Ghana Embassy in Brussels
* Advocated for student welfare
* Organized seminars, leadership training, and symposia
* Built bridges across communities
His leadership is not theoretical.
It is visible. Measurable. Proven.

A POLITICAL FORCE WITH RESULTS
Andrews Kwame Perprem is not just a participant in politics—he is an organizer, strategist, and mobilizer.
He is the architect behind United Belgium for Bawumia (UBB)—a powerful movement dedicated to:
* Mobilizing resources
* Strengthening grassroots engagement
* Supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision
Currently serving as Acting Secretary of NPP Antwerp Chapter, his work has become the benchmark for excellence.

THE MAN BEHIND THE JOURNEY
Beyond titles and achievements, Andrews is:
* A philanthropist
* A businessman
* A development consultant
* A mentor and motivator
But above all…
He is a man who never forgot where he came from.

WHY ANDREWS?
Because he understands struggle.
Because he has proven resilience.
Because he delivers results.
Because he leads with vision and action.

A VOTE FOR ANDREYS KWAME PERPREM…
…is a vote for experience, integrity, hard work, and transformation.
From barefoot in Agyapomaa…
To leadership in Belgium…
His journey is your inspiration.
His leadership is your future.

LET’S BUILD A STRONGER NPP BELGIUM — TOGETHER.
