The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is to deploy social welfare officers to monitor the wellbeing of the children of Ghanaian fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her husband, Harold Norman, as a domestic violence case involving the family proceeds.
The decision follows an engagement between the sector minister, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, and Mr Norman after his discharge from hospital.
Dr Lartey had earlier visited the family and interacted with Nana Akua Addo, but was unable to meet her husband at the time because he was receiving medical treatment.
During their subsequent meeting, the minister underscored the importance of shielding the children from conflict and any circumstances that could threaten their safety, emotional wellbeing and development.
According to the Ministry, social welfare officers will monitor the children’s situation and work to ensure that their welfare and best interests remain paramount.
The Ministry further indicated that it would continue collaborating with the Police and other relevant institutions to support the family while investigations into the alleged domestic violence case continue.
