In a swift move signaling zero tolerance for misconduct in schools, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken decisive action by removing Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, from his position following the circulation of a viral video allegedly depicting him in an inappropriate situation with a female student.
The video, which has sparked widespread public concern and condemnation, prompted immediate intervention from the GES, which announced Mr. Aidoo’s removal in an official statement issued earlier today.
According to the statement, Mr. Aidoo has been barred from reporting to the school pending the outcome of a full investigation.
“This decision reflects our unwavering commitment to upholding the safety and dignity of students and the integrity of the teaching profession,” the GES stated. “He has been removed from office and is not to be seen on the school premises while investigations continue.”
The Education Service emphasized that due process will be followed, and any disciplinary actions taken will align with the GES code of conduct. The statement further reassured parents, students, and the general public that every effort will be made to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the process.
“We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students. Our schools must remain safe spaces for learning and growth,” the statement continued.
This latest development adds to growing calls for increased oversight and stricter enforcement of professional ethics within Ghana’s educational institutions, particularly concerning student protection and teacher conduct.
As investigations progress, education stakeholders and child protection advocates alike will be watching closely to see how the case is handled and what broader reforms might follow.
