The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified graduates with valid National Teaching Council (NTC) licences to apply within a short one-week period.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, applications will be received from April 10 to April 17, targeting “passionate and dedicated graduates” willing to teach across the country, particularly in underserved communities.
The Service emphasised that all applicants must be in good standing with the NTC and possess a valid teaching licence, adding that willingness to accept postings in deprived districts is a key requirement for consideration.
Eligible applicants include holders of Bachelor of Education degrees as well as graduates with first degrees who have completed professional teaching qualifications such as PGDE, PGCE, or a Diploma in Basic Education. Completion of National Service is also mandatory.
GES stated that successful candidates must demonstrate strong classroom management abilities, effective communication skills, and competence in integrating modern technology into teaching and learning. They are also expected to support learners with diverse needs and comply with national teaching standards and professional codes of conduct.
Applicants are required to complete the process online via the official GES recruitment portal and upload relevant documents, including academic certificates, National Service certificate, NTC licence, Ghana Card, passport photograph, and valid contact information.
All documents may be submitted in either PDF or image format.
A major focus of this year’s recruitment is addressing teacher shortages in rural and hard-to-reach areas, where staffing gaps remain a persistent challenge due to frequent transfer requests by newly posted teachers.
By explicitly requiring willingness to serve in deprived districts, GES says it aims to improve teacher distribution and strengthen education delivery across the country.
