First Lady of Ghana, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, is in Washington, DC, attending the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit, an event convened by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump to address the impact of digital technology on children worldwide.
During the two-day summit, first spouses from across the globe are sharing strategies to create safer, more equitable online environments for young people. Ahead of the summit, Mrs Mahama reiterated Ghana’s commitment to protecting children in the digital age, highlighting the importance of technology as a tool for empowerment rather than harm.
“Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility,” she said in a statement.
The summit aims to strengthen international collaboration, policy dialogue, and initiatives to safeguard children online, while also promoting inclusive digital opportunities that support education, creativity, and innovation.
