Efforts to deepen safety and operational standards in Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector received a boost as the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) reaffirmed its commitment to strict regulatory enforcement during GOIL PLC’s 2026 HSSEQ Week celebration in Tema.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, underscored the Authority’s resolve to strengthen health, safety, security, environment, and quality (HSSEQ) compliance across the industry, stressing that maintaining high standards remains a top priority.
Speaking as Special Guest at the event hosted by GOIL PLC at the GOBitumen Terminal, he highlighted the importance of continuous collaboration between regulators and industry players to enhance operational excellence.
The week-long programme, aligned with the global theme of the International Labour Organization World Day for Safety and Health — “Promoting a Positive Psychosocial Working Environment” — brought together stakeholders to exchange best practices and reinforce safety culture.
Mr. Tameklo praised GOIL for setting a strong example in integrating HSSEQ principles into its operations nationwide, describing the company’s approach as a model for others in the sector.
He assured that the NPA would sustain robust monitoring and guidance to ensure all petroleum industry players adhere to established safety and quality standards while improving overall performance.
