Accra Hearts of Oak have received a major boost ahead of the new football season after FIFA lifted the transfer restrictions imposed on the Ghana Premier League club.
The decision follows the club’s settlement of an outstanding financial obligation owed to former coach Rene Hiddink, bringing an end to the dispute that had prevented Hearts of Oak from registering new players.
In a statement, the club said FIFA had formally notified it that the case had been closed after the full amount owed to Hiddink was paid.
“The closure follows the full settlement of the amount due to Mr. Hiddink, which has been duly confirmed by him,” the club said.
Hearts of Oak welcomed the resolution, saying it had acted in good faith throughout the process and remained committed to reaching an amicable settlement of the matter.
The lifting of the restrictions removes a major hurdle for the Phobians as they prepare for the upcoming season, allowing the club to proceed with the registration of players.
The club urged its supporters and other stakeholders to consider the matter resolved and remain calm following the development.
Hearts of Oak also expressed appreciation to its supporters for their patience and continued backing while efforts were made to settle the financial obligation and resolve the FIFA case.
With the restriction now lifted, the club can turn its attention fully to preparations for the new season, including finalising its squad and player registrations.
