The Hohoe Circuit Court has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Felix Agbodzi, to seven years imprisonment after he admitted to defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Presiding Judge Lambert Y. Kariba convicted Agbodzi on his own plea after he was charged with defilement under Section 101(2) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to the Ghana Police Service, the incident occurred after the convict lured the minor to his residence, where he subjected her to sexual abuse.
The case was confirmed in a statement issued by the Volta North Regional Police Command and signed by Inspector Felix Kwao, who also serves as the Command’s Public Relations Officer.
He said the suspect was arrested on April 13, 2026, following preliminary investigations and subsequently arraigned before court, where he entered a guilty plea.
Police authorities described the conviction as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on sexual offences against minors, urging the public to promptly report such cases to law enforcement agencies.
Inspector Kwao reiterated that individuals who commit such crimes will face the full force of the law, stressing the need for community vigilance to protect vulnerable children.
