The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Christian Tettey Yohuno, has charged 22 newly promoted Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) to intensify efforts in reducing crime and enhancing public safety across the country.
The officers, who were elevated from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), were recommended by the Police Council and subsequently approved by the President of the Republic.
Addressing the officers at a promotion ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Accra, IGP Dr. Yohuno noted that each of the officers had served a minimum of four years in their previous rank and had demonstrated dedication, professionalism and commitment to the Ghana Police Service.
He commended them for their hard work and urged them to see the promotion as a call to higher responsibility, especially at a time when public expectations of the Police Service are high.
Dr. Yohuno entreated the newly promoted senior officers to lead by example, uphold discipline among their subordinates, and work tirelessly to strengthen public confidence in the Police Service through effective crime prevention and community engagement.
He also reminded them that their new ranks come with greater scrutiny and accountability, and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Police Council and the President.
The IGP congratulated the officers and their families and wished them success in their new roles.
“These promotions are to let you know that the government and the people of Ghana are happy with your work. It is also a challenge to you to work harder,” he said. Ghanaenergy awards

He urged them to work with other senior officers to ensure that the festive season passed without major criminal incidents.
